LABORATORY TECHNICIAN FOR PRECISION MECHANICAL WORKSHOP The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences is seeking a laboratory technician for a permanent position starting October 1, 2026, in the faculty's precision mechanical workshop. The workshop supports the faculty's experimental activities, providing machine shop services for science and research needs within the faculty. About the position We offer an interesting role in the precision mechanical workshop at the Kumpula campus. The duties include the design and construction of precision mechanical parts for scientific measuring equipment, as well as the repair and maintenance of such parts as needed. Available tools include 3D design software (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, Mastercam), 4 CNC machining centers, and several manual machining tools. About you The best qualifications for the position are provided by relevant vocational education, such as a basic degree in machinery and metals focusing on manufacturing technology (precision mechanic or machinist-welder). CNC machining skills (including the ability to read technical drawings, use of CAD-CAM software, selection and setup of appropriate tools and fixtures, finding zero points, and quality assurance), a good knowledge of structural materials (metals, ceramics, plastics, etc.), and practical experience in the field are considered an advantage. In addition to good Finnish language skills, at least satisfactory English language skills are necessary for the performance of the duties. We value precision, responsibility, and cooperation skills.
