Daycare Topelius is a small, four-group daycare in Taka-Töölö. We have two pre-primary groups, one with 14 children and one with 21. We are now looking for an enthusiastic and professional pre-primary teacher to join our warm-hearted community. Our pre-primary education is genuine urban pre-primary education focusing on functionality, theme work, and learning together. Our pedagogy emphasizes child-centeredness, the joy of learning, and play. In Topelius's pre-primary, everyone finds friends with the help of an adult. As an early childhood education teacher, you are responsible for building your children's group's operational culture and learning environment, planning, implementing, developing, and evaluating pedagogical activities, and supporting children's individual learning in accordance with the Helsinki early childhood and pre-primary education plan, the early childhood education unit's operational plan, and the child's individual plan (vasu). Eligibility requirements: We require eligibility in accordance with the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) or, according to the transitional provision (Section 75), a Bachelor of Education degree (lto), a suitable university of applied sciences degree, or a previous equivalent college-level degree, e.g., a kindergarten teacher or social educator degree (Act 272/2005 and Decree No. 608/2005). Eligibility is also met by a recognition decision made by the National Agency for Education based on foreign education for the position applied for. You are also required to have eligibility to provide pre-primary education (Decree 986/1998 and Decree 865/2005). Additionally, we require good oral and written skills in Finnish. The selected person must present a valid criminal record extract for working with children (504/2002). A tuberculosis clearance for the respiratory system for those working with children under school age will be checked (Communicable Diseases Act Section 55). When starting a permanent employment contract as an early childhood education teacher with the City of Helsinki in 2026, we offer you an incentive bonus of 2,000 euros. The bonus is paid only once to the same person. Further information is available from the recruiting daycare director. Previous experience in early childhood education teacher duties is considered an advantage.
