Job Description
The City of Porvoo's early childhood education services are seeking an early childhood education teacher for a permanent position starting August 10, 2026, or by agreement. The primary place of work is Ylä-Haikkoon kindergarten. Child participation and play are important at Ylä-Haikkoon kindergarten. We encourage children and support them through setbacks. Children are encouraged to boldly practice various skills. We provide children with versatile activities in accordance with the early childhood education plan, taking into account age, developmental level, and other individual needs. We utilize the opportunities provided by the immediate environment and nature in our activities. Interaction and cooperation with guardians are open and participatory. Cooperation emphasizes the guardians' expertise regarding the child, as well as the staff's professional skill and knowledge of the child's daily life and developmental stage. In our activities, we observe the principles of sustainable development, such as recycling and ecological choices of materials and equipment where possible. We act with respect for the environment and nature. As an early childhood education teacher, you are responsible for the teaching, education, and care of the child group and participate in the development of the pedagogy of the entire unit. Together with your team, you are responsible for the planning, implementation, evaluation, and development of the child group's activities. Together with the early childhood education social worker, you are responsible for the cooperation with the child group's guardians and participate in the implementation of child participation in the child group's activities. We ensure a smooth start to work through a comprehensive orientation program. In addition to the work community and supervisor, early childhood education experts and a special education teacher for early childhood education are available for support. An assistant director model is being piloted in Porvoo. The eligibility requirement is qualification in accordance with the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018). Working hours: 38.25h/week. Remuneration according to the OVTES level salary. The position-specific salary for those meeting the eligibility requirements is €3,030.80/month - €3,172.38/month. In addition to the level salary, a qualification supplement of €15/month is paid. Before the selection is confirmed, the selected person must present a criminal record extract in accordance with the Act on the Checking of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children (504/2002) and show an approved tuberculosis infection screening questionnaire in accordance with Section 55 of the Communicable Diseases Act. The probationary period is half the duration of the employment relationship, however, a maximum of 6 months.
