Data Platform Engineer at S-Pankki; hybrid work, Databricks expert for data-platform maintenance and evolution.

Original job description

Welcome to a bank that does things a little differently. Do you want to help build banking services that make everyday life easier for more than three million customer-owners? At S-Bank we strive to be a trusted partner for a better everyday life and enable a wealthier tomorrow for millions of Finns, while taking the bank to a new scale. We want to challenge industry norms and have a lot of opportunities to influence. Although we do demanding expert work, we don’t overdo the rigidity. In this role you will be part of the data leadership services team and act as the technical expert for the Databricks platform. You will be responsible with the team for keeping the data platform technically up-to-date and compliant with business needs and regulatory requirements. The core of your work is maintaining, developing, and adopting new features in the Databricks ecosystem. You will support the implementation of new data integrations from a technical perspective and ensure the data platforms evolve with business and tech needs. You will have ownership of your own technology stack and collaborate with data engineers, analysts, data management experts, IT development managers and external partners. Depending on your skills you may also participate in Microsoft Fabric platform development. The position is permanent and full-time, and is contracted directly with S-Pankki. Your desk is at the main office in Vallila, and we work in a hybrid model within Finland. Expect to be in the office about two days per week. What we expect from you: strong Databricks expertise and experience with technical maintenance, development, and governance of data platforms. You have at least two years of Databricks experience and a willingness to continually develop in a changing tech environment. Experience with Microsoft data technologies, Microsoft Fabric, version control tools or other technologies supporting data platform maintenance is a plus. Understanding of regulatory or financial domain requirements is beneficial. You work fluently in Finnish and English. You are independent, analytical, and proactive. You enjoy sharing your views, justify technical decisions, and take responsibility in your area. You also value collaboration with diverse stakeholders and have a genuine interest in technology and its ongoing development. What we offer: the opportunity to influence how S-Pankki’s Databricks ecosystem is developed and what technical possibilities data platforms offer in the future. You’ll work with modern, growing data technologies in a role that combines deep technical competence, independent responsibility, and long-term platform development. We provide thorough onboarding with support from stakeholders and experienced teammates. S-Pankki has been chosen as Finland’s most responsible banking brand 12 times (Sustainable Brand Index). For us, responsibility also means caring for our employees. The S-Group behind S-Bank brings substantial resources and opportunities, while we remain agile and have the spirit of a small company. Work-life balance matters to us. We operate in a hybrid model with flexible hours. We also offer comprehensive occupational health care and support for exercise and hobbies. Employees have purchase benefits at S-Group locations. Learn more at s-pankki.fi/ura. If you’re interested, please apply online as soon as possible, but by 11 October 2026. We will start interviews during the application period and will hire as soon as the right person is found. The successful candidate will undergo a background check and security clearance. Recruitment is led by Biisoni. For more information contact Nea Repo, nea.repo@biisoni.fi.
