About the role

The UNDP in Tunisia is recruiting a Principal Technical Specialist in Preventing Violent Extremism who will be responsible for managing the project implementation and advising the UNDP country office teams and local partners on appropriate technical and methodological approaches. Main missions include providing technical support on PVE and acting as project manager to ensure activities are implemented according to annual work plans. The role involves supporting resource mobilization, developing a common UNDP Tunisia strategy for PVE and social cohesion, strengthening partnerships with UN agencies and development partners, and enhancing documentation and knowledge sharing of PVE best practices in Tunisia and the region. Scope of work includes: 1. Implementing the TARABOT project (annual work plans, activity coordination, staff recruitment and supervision, financial management, and compliance). 2. Providing technical expertise in PVE and social cohesion (strategic planning, integrating gender and human rights). 3. Advising on strategic partnerships and resource mobilization (coordination with UN agencies, institutional relations with CNLCT and ministries). 4. Knowledge management and sharing lessons learned.

Job Details

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and coordinate annual project work plans for the TARABOT project
  • Recruit, supervise, and evaluate project personnel and consultants
  • Develop terms of reference and concept notes for programmed activities
  • Prepare periodic implementation reports and manage the project's risk register
  • Organize and follow up on Steering Committee (COPIL) meetings
  • Manage project financial resources according to UNDP rules and donor agreements
  • Provide technical expertise on PVE and social cohesion to UNDP and national partners
  • Integrate cross-cutting themes such as gender and human rights into programming
  • Coordinate and align PVE interventions with other UN agencies and development partners in Tunisia
  • Establish strategic relations with Tunisian institutional partners (CNLCT, ministries)
  • Identify funding opportunities and coordinate the elaboration of new project documents
  • Strengthen documentation and knowledge production through research and M&E

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social sciences, law, international development, management or related field (or Bachelor's with 2 additional years of experience)
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience (with Master's) or 9 years (with Bachelor's) in development, PVE, stabilization, social cohesion, or conflict prevention/transformation
  • Experience in managing development programs or projects
  • Proven experience in team management
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing institutional partnerships
  • Proficiency in digital tools and UNDP information systems (Microsoft 365, SharePoint)
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and generative AI tools
