Job Description
The Oulu Museum and Science Centre is seeking six SERVICE ASSISTANTS for permanent and fixed-term positions. You enjoy performing, gain energy from working with people, and like diverse tasks. If so, apply to be a service assistant in customer service tasks at the new and impressive museum and science centre Tiima. Tiima is a unique and unprecedented museum and science centre in Myllytulli, Oulu. Under one roof, four entities operate: Tietomaa Science Centre, Oulu Museum, VISIO Experience Space, and Children's Museum. Tiima offers a total of ten different experiences and activities with a single ticket. We are hiring full-time and part-time service assistants for Tiima’s customer service team, with both permanent (2) and fixed-term (4) positions. Fixed-term roles start according to agreement and last until December 31, 2027. Permanent roles will be filled starting from August 2026. Your daily tasks include leading scheduled performances in VISIO, advising and guiding visitors in exhibition spaces, and planning and implementing various guided tours, workshops, and educational and program services for Tiima’s visitors. As a service assistant, you will be a face and an enthusiast of Tiima’s daily life: ensuring a smooth and memorable customer experience and encouraging visitors to participate and try new things. VISIO is an immersive experience space where images, sound, and interaction combine into an experiential whole. Visitors do not just watch content but participate in it — the space reacts and changes according to visitors’ actions. As a service assistant, you will operate applications in front of the audience in real-time using a smartphone or game controller and interact with customers. You are a cheerful and energetic customer service professional who is not afraid to be in the spotlight. You enjoy meeting people, are willing to take responsibility, and can resolve customer service situations. A suitable degree is a requirement for the role. Additionally, we require confident presentation skills, basic computer skills, group management skills, and good spoken Finnish and English. Previous experience in public speaking, working with groups, and using a game controller are considered an advantage. The Oulu Museum and Science Centre produces, preserves, and exhibits northern science, art, and history. Our goal is to strengthen local identity by guiding and inspiring people in the present and preserving important stories for future generations. The stories collected and maintained by the Oulu Museum and Science Centre are shared across nine popular destinations for locals and tourists. Join a team of about 70 professionals developing the operations of the Oulu Museum and Science Centre. We offer the benefits of a large city and a unique opportunity to be part of opening a completely new cultural venue in Oulu. The work involves shift work according to Tiima’s opening hours and includes regular evening and weekend shifts. We will select suitable candidates for video interviews based on applications, after which some will be invited for personal interviews. Personal interviews will be held in early August. The role begins in August 2026 with orientation and content training. The City of Oulu applies a six-month probation period for this position. Applications are primarily submitted via the electronic application form. If submitting electronically is not possible, send your application to the City of Oulu Registry Office, PL 71, 90015 Oulu City, or visit in person at Kansankatu 55A. The application must include the task-specific case number OUKA/7998/2026. Applications must be received by June 15, 2026, at 16:15.
