HUS Abdominal Center is seeking a Chief Physician of Vascular Surgery. The person selected for the position will serve as the Chief Physician and administrative supervisor for the vascular surgery specialty within the Abdominal Center. The position includes the role of Line Manager for the vascular surgery line. The detailed definition of the line manager's duties and administrative responsibilities, as well as decision-making authority, are specified in the HUS Group's administrative and operational regulations. The vascular surgery line operates at the Meilahti hospital campus in Helsinki and at Hyvinkää Hospital. Both units provide vascular surgery ward, outpatient, and surgical services. Currently, a total of 27 specialists and 12 residents are working in the vascular surgery line. The position holder is responsible for the clinical operations and development of the aforementioned units, as well as supporting and promoting teaching and research in their specialty. Additionally, they are responsible for the coordination of specialized medical care in their field within the HUS area and for cooperation within the Southern Finland YTA area together with the Division Director. The selected person will participate in the development and administrative work of the Abdominal Center and will be a member of the Abdominal Center's management team. Successful performance of the Chief Physician/Line Manager role requires experience and demonstrated success in management and operational development, as well as flexibility and cooperation skills. The position holder is expected to identify future priority areas in the field within the HUS area, the YTA area, nationally, and internationally. In the selection process, particular emphasis is placed on the ability to develop the operations and processes of their own line extensively and to ensure quality, as well as negotiation skills, innovativeness, and the ability to lead change. Administrative training supporting the management of a specialized medical care unit and experience in administrative or management positions in the field are considered an advantage. The position-specific salary is €9,192.76/month plus possible experience and other supplements. Apply by the end of the application period on August 17, 2026. Eligibility Requirements Specialist qualification in a suitable specialty and the title of Docent in a suitable specialty, as well as experience in administrative or management positions in the field, and additionally a licensed physician or a permit to act in physician duties. For the position being recruited, the suitable specialty is vascular surgery. Language requirements are good oral and written skills in Finnish and satisfactory oral and written skills in Swedish, or good oral and written skills in Swedish and satisfactory oral and written skills in Finnish. We require vaccination protection in accordance with the Communicable Diseases Act for those working in customer and patient areas, and a health certificate regarding pulmonary tuberculosis for those working in healthcare operational units.
