About the role

Metsä Fibre Metsä Group is a successful forest industry group with roots in the Finnish forest... We are looking for a DEPARTMENT AND AREA ENGINEER, WOOD HANDLING for a permanent position at Metsä Fibre's Kemi bioproduct mill. The Kemi bioproduct mill is the most efficient wood processing plant in the Northern Hemisphere. What kind of work awaits you? As a department engineer, I am responsible for the production and mechanical maintenance performance of the wood handling department in cooperation with the plant's production and maintenance personnel. You are responsible for the daily operation and development tasks of wood handling and act as an expert in the planning and implementation of major repairs. The goal is to manage the department's production and mechanical maintenance operations in a high-quality and cost-effective manner, taking environmental and safety issues strongly into account. You will act as a supervisor for the department's maintenance installers and report to the maintenance manager in your position. What kind of expertise are we looking for? You have the ability to move things forward systematically. You have good interaction skills and the management of safety issues is part of your professional skill. You are self-directed and ready to embrace new things in a constantly evolving environment. You are proactive, goal-oriented and a good problem solver. You have a passion for long-term development and are able to embrace entities wider than your own area of responsibility. You have previously worked in the wood processing industry in similar positions and have at least an engineering level education suitable for the position. You have experience in mechanical maintenance official positions and in the use of systems important in the position such as SAP, OMS and M-Files. You can interpret PI diagrams and form safety isolations and work permits in your own area of responsibility. You must have experience in the maintenance of railway tracks and locomotives at a general level. It is also good if you have experience in supervisory positions. You must also have the skill to act in the role of a work planner for your own area temporarily. Your main working language is Finnish, but operating with partners also requires English language skills.
