As a Manager, Procurement, you’ll serve as an individual contributor supporting GitLab’s Chief Technology Officer, Chief Information Security Officer, and Chief Information Officer organizations. You’ll lead strategic sourcing, vendor management, and contract negotiations for critical technology suppliers, with a strong focus on software, cloud infrastructure, and hyperscaler partnerships. You’ll work closely with senior leaders and cross-functional partners to shape sourcing strategies, improve procurement processes, identify savings opportunities, and explore how artificial intelligence can support procurement and negotiation. This role is expected to report to the Senior Director of Procurement and requires working hours that align with stakeholders across Eastern through Pacific time zones. What You’ll Do Lead strategic sourcing and contract negotiations for software, cloud, infrastructure, consulting, and other technology suppliers. Develop category and sourcing strategies that support the Chief Technology Officer, Chief Information Security Officer, and Chief Information Officer organizations. Manage relationships and lead performance management programs for critical suppliers, including hyperscaler and cloud partners, partnering with business stakeholders to conduct regular business reviews. Conduct detailed spend analysis and market intelligence research within assigned categories, monitoring market trends and supply chain risks. Develop category-specific KPIs and performance metrics, and present category performance reports to senior leadership. Collaborate with stakeholders and Finance Business Partners to forecast demand and manage spend against category budgets. Partner with executives and other stakeholders to understand business needs, evaluate options, and guide procurement decisions. Collaborate with Legal, Finance, Security, Information Technology, and other teams throughout the procurement lifecycle. Identify savings opportunities while balancing cost, risk, service quality, and business needs. Improve procurement and procure-to-pay processes to make them clearer and more efficient, with a focus on reducing cycle times Explore practical ways to use artificial intelligence in procurement processes, analysis, and negotiation preparation. What You’ll Bring Experience in strategic sourcing, vendor management, and complex contract negotiation. Experience procuring software as a service, cloud infrastructure, or other technical products and services. Working knowledge of cloud hosting, infrastructure services, and the commercial terms used in technology contracts. Understanding of procure-to-pay processes, systems, and procurement operations. Experience with Zip or similar procure-to-pay system is preferred Ability to build trusted partnerships with executives and cross-functional stakeholders. Clear communication skills and the judgment to explain complex commercial topics to different audiences. A collaborative, self-directed approach, with the willingness to step forward, lead discussions, and support teammates. Experience in a software or technology business is preferred, and we welcome relevant experience from other industries. 5-7 years of procurement experience, including at least 3 years in category management. A bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field. Strong financial acumen and analytical capabilities. Advanced project management skills. A proven track record of delivering measurable cost savings. About the team The Procurement team helps GitLab team members select and manage the suppliers needed to run the business. Each team member supports different parts of GitLab while following shared processes and goals. The team works closely together to balance workloads, provide coverage, improve how procurement operates, and support high-impact supplier decisions. This role will focus on GitLab’s technology organizations and many of its most critical suppliers, with regular visibility and partnership across senior leadership.
