Job Description

We are seeking a bilingual daycare director for our client company Verkanappulat Oy, for a permanent position in Vaasa. In this role, you will lead a small daycare where high-quality early childhood education, staff well-being, and child engagement are central. We are looking for an engaged and development-oriented leader who wants to influence the unit's operations comprehensively and build a safe, learning, and inspiring culture together with the staff. The employment is permanent, and the start date is no later than August 1, 2026. Earlier start dates are also possible by agreement. Your responsibilities include: As the daycare director, you will be responsible for the overall management of the unit. You will lead operations purposefully, develop daily routines and pedagogy, and participate in group activities when necessary. You will be a visible part of the daily life at the daycare and will interact with children, guardians, and staff. You will be part of the regional daycare directors' team, receiving ongoing support and coaching from colleagues and supervisors. The role includes, among other things: Staff management and supporting work capacity Guiding, supporting, and developing staff Participating in recruitment Managing work capacity and promoting well-being Building an encouraging and learning-oriented culture Strengthening a psychologically safe and inclusive work community Developing a culture of continuous learning with staff Operational management Ensuring smooth daily operations Managing resources Coordinating safety matters Handling procurement Organizing catering and cleaning Pedagogical leadership Developing pedagogy, quality, and assessment Ensuring implementation of group responsibilities Leading and monitoring children's support processes Collaboration and client management Working with families and the municipality Monitoring child numbers and occupancy rates Reporting to the regional manager. What we expect from you: We require the daycare director qualification and experience in early childhood education management or leadership roles. Success in this role depends on enjoying leading, developing, and ensuring smooth daily operations. We hope you have: Qualification as a daycare director (e.g., Bachelor's or Master's degree in education, social services, or a comparable qualification) Experience in leadership, early childhood education, and change management Understanding of pedagogical leadership and results-based operations Strong leadership skills and ability to support staff Good collaboration and communication skills Fluent Finnish and Swedish language skills Interested?
