Specialist for Nurmijärvi Municipality Education Services Nurmijärvi - the phenomenon of a better everyday life Nurmijärvi is a growing municipality of over 45,000 inhabitants, located within easy reach of the capital region. Approximately 1,700 professionals from various fields work in the municipality's service. Are you the new phenomenon-maker? Education Services is seeking A SPECIALIST for education services 1.9.2026 (or by agreement) - 31.12.2027 Come develop S2 (Finnish as a second language) teaching for multilingual children in Nurmijärvi! We want to strengthen the Finnish language development of S2 learners. The work is carried out in the "Nurmijärvi's unified path to learning Finnish" project. The specialist coordinates the project, develops S2 teaching practices and municipality-level structures, and supports schools in implementing the renewed S2 curriculum. The role also includes training and organizing training sessions. In accordance with the municipal strategy, the duties also include promoting the Literacy program and networking. The specialist works as part of the education services expert team and collaborates with, among others, language and culture teachers and a consulting S2 teacher. The specialist's work requires good interaction skills, flexibility, and expertise in language-aware pedagogy. The specialist must have experience working with multilingual students and expertise in using language-aware teaching methods. The primary place of work is the Nurmijärvi municipal office, but the selected person must be prepared to work in various schools of the municipality according to an agreed plan. The work may require the use of a private car during the working day. Eligibility as a basic education teacher is required for the position. The terms of employment are determined by the municipal civil servants and employees' collective agreement (KVTES). The person selected for employment must provide a criminal record extract in accordance with the Act on the Checking of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children (504/2002). A six (6) month probationary period applies to the employment relationship. Are you interested?
