About the role

We are seeking a psychologist for the City of Helsinki's first-line psychiatry short-term therapy unit, which provides short-term therapeutic treatments and group therapies for Helsinki residents over 13 years old. The position is at 80% working time, a fixed-term employment contract for the period 28.9.2026-2.8.2027. Our team consists of 24 nurses and three psychologists. The unit is open Mon-Wed 8-18 and Thu-Fri 8-16. Evening-oriented shifts occur a couple of times a month. More can be done upon request. The treatments implemented in our unit are based on the national 'Therapies at the Front Line' project, where we focus on treatment programs of about 5-10 visits for the most common mental health problems of young people and adults. Treatment programs include KLT, IPT and Cool Kids sessions. We also have the opportunity to implement other evidence-based short-term therapeutic interventions if you have training in them. The psychologist's work also includes processing referrals received by the unit. Your work is supported by a multidisciplinary team, collegial support from the psychologists of the short-term therapy working group, and regular supervision. In addition to interesting and varied work, we offer extensive training and development opportunities. As a city employee, you can apply for a rental apartment from Aurora Linna, whose apartments are cheaper than market level and our employees' applications are prioritized. Since life is not just about work, we also take care of the balance between work and leisure. You will have access to the Epassi Flex package including sports, culture, commuting and wellbeing benefits. A maximum of 500 euros can be obtained per calendar year. The available balance is determined based on the length of your employment. In addition, a lunch benefit is available. As a staff benefit, you will also have access to a city bike and can, if you wish, visit the city employees' own recreation island. Eligibility requirement: Master of Psychology (higher university degree) and licensure in Finland. Language requirements are good oral and written skills in Finnish and satisfactory oral skills in Swedish. The position requires vaccination protection according to Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act and a tuberculosis certificate according to Section 55. The position requires the presentation of a criminal record extract (Act on the investigation of the criminal background of persons working with children 504/2002). In addition, we require good cooperation and interaction skills. The work requires flexible learning of new IT applications and operating methods. Ability to work with clients in Swedish, therapy training and experience in implementing fixed-length structured interventions are considered an advantage. Work experience at the specialized healthcare level of psychiatry or adolescent psychiatry is also considered an advantage.
