About the role

We are currently seeking a fixed-term instructor to join our professional team for the period 1.9.2026 - 17.5.2027. Laune Special Housing provides long-term and short-term housing for children and young people with intellectual disabilities who benefit from small group activities, including clients on the autism spectrum. Clients require strong support and intensive guidance. Job duties include assisting and guiding in all activities of daily living. Clients' challenges in interaction and emotional regulation require instructors to have good interpersonal skills, calmness, perseverance, and a readiness to handle challenging situations. We walk a lot regardless of the weather, so physical fitness is expected. Previous experience working with people with intellectual disabilities and/or special needs children is considered an advantage. We expect a readiness for individual guidance, as well as flexibility to adapt your work as part of the team's operations to ensure a safe environment for both clients and colleagues. You have a genuine desire to work with young people on the autism spectrum. You want to be involved in developing the unit's operations and possess a solution-oriented mindset. Previous experience working with people with intellectual disabilities and/or special needs children is considered an advantage. We are looking for a positive person for the team who meets clients without prejudice. The work is primarily a 2-shift system. Nature is an important element for us in Päijät-Häme, and it is said that every Lahti resident has the city in their front yard and nature in their backyard. We require a vocational qualification in social and health care, registration in the Suosikki or Terhikki professional registers maintained by the Licensing and Supervision Authority, a hygiene passport, and vaccination protection in accordance with Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act. Our working language is Finnish, so we expect fluent oral and written Finnish skills (at least B1 level). In employment relationships lasting at least three months, those working with disabled persons must present an acceptable criminal record extract as referred to in Section 6, subsection 2 of the Criminal Records Act (Act on the Supervision of Social Welfare and Health Care 741/2023 28§).
