About the role

The Collections and Research Unit is responsible for the collections of the National Museum of Finland, their growth, research, and accessibility. The collections contain 550,000 objects and include historical collections, numismatic collections, ethnological collections, independence era collections, Finno-Ugric collections, ethnographic collections, the Finnish Maritime Museum collections, music collections, and prison collections. The intern's duties include tasks related to the management of the National Museum of Finland's historical collections, such as cataloging collections and collection materials and importing them into the MuseumPlus collection management system, supplementing object information, and opening materials to the Finna search service, a joint service for archives, libraries, and museums. We provide the intern with comprehensive orientation and guidance throughout the employment period. This position is part of the government's goal to hire 500 young people into new fixed-term employment relationships during 2026. The positions are intended for persons aged 18–25 seeking their first job in the state sector. The selected person must not have other public funding during the internship period. The selected person does not necessarily have to be a student; for example, you may be a recent graduate. There are no statutory eligibility requirements for the position. The position is subject to a one (1) month probationary period.
