Lawyer

We are seeking a lawyer for a permanent position in Helsinki City’s Social Welfare, Health and Rescue Sector. The unit is responsible for organizing high-quality social, health and rescue services for residents. The duties include guidance and advice on social welfare legislation and general administrative matters, providing legal support for decision-making to the sector’s leadership, supervisors and the Social Welfare, Health and Rescue Committee, organizing trainings related to legal questions for staff, preparing opinions in response to complaints, and, if needed, handling legal tasks related to child protection. The eligibility requirement is a Master’s degree in law. Language requirements include good spoken and written Finnish and satisfactory spoken and written Swedish. The role requires knowledge of social welfare legislation, strong oral and written presentation skills, good collaboration and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently. The selected candidate must present a health certificate of fitness for duty before signing the appointment. Desirable is experience in similarly demanding legal expert duties in the public sector, knowledge of municipal or welfare-region decision-making legislation, and experience in planning and delivering trainings as well as knowledge of child protection legislation.
