Tullivalvontaosasto is responsible for customs control tasks including inspections of foreign trade vessels, vehicles, cargo units, goods and passengers; regional risk analysis; warehouse and procedure inspections; crime control; CBRNe surveillance; radiography and dog and boat activities. The unit is organized into two sections: Customs Control Specialists and Operational Customs Control. The department is led by a director together with section chiefs and forms the department management team. The Operational Customs Control section comprises a national command center and four regional operations (south, west, north and east). Apprenticeship recruitment tasks fall under the Operational Customs Control section. The Western control unit covers the region’s customs tasks and other duties; it consists of the Mariehamna office, Southwest Finland mobile group, and Western and Central Finland mobile group. The Western region’s supervision is performed at sites Turku, Mariehamna, Rauma, Pori, Vaasa, Kokkola and Tampere, with Turku as the main site. We seek customs inspectors for fixed-term public employment from 22.02.2027–21.08.2029 or 5.04.2027–4.10.2029. The inspector duties include passenger, cargo and vehicle traffic customs control as well as import/export/transit declarations for commercial foreign trade. Duties include border control and cooperation with other authorities. The role covers ports, airports, border crossing points and various warehouses located for roaming control and use of different control technologies. Training will be provided later according to the training career path if selected and after completing qualification, e.g., for special duties in customs. We train you to become a professional in the customs field through apprenticeship training. The customs vocational qualification is a secondary-level display exam. The training combines theory with practical training. Qualification provides strong employment prospects in the customs' diverse duties.
