Software Quality Assurance Manager
Silicon Labs is building a world-class Software Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad, and we are looking for an experienced Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Manager to build and lead our Multiprotocol QA team. This team will be responsible for driving the quality of software and firmware for Silicon Labs EFR wireless chips, with primary focus on multiprotocol solutions spanning IEEE 802.15.4, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), OpenThread, and Matter over Thread, while also supporting selected Wi-Fi validation areas, especially Wi-Fi PTA 3-wire coexistence use cases. The team plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality product releases for IoT applications across smart home, industrial automation, connected health, and other emerging wireless markets. This position is based out of Silicon Labs, Hyderabad. The role requires close collaboration with global teams across the USA and Europe, and therefore requires flexibility in work hours to accommodate meetings and stakeholder engagement later in the day. What You Will Do Lead, build, and manage a high-performing Multiprotocol SQA team in Hyderabad. Own people management responsibilities including hiring, onboarding, resource planning, mentoring, performance management, and retention of a highly skilled QA organization. Drive the validation strategy and execution for EFR-based multiprotocol solutions, with predominant focus on IEEE 802.15.4, BLE, OpenThread, and Matter over Thread, while also supporting selected Wi-Fi validation areas, especially Wi-Fi PTA 3-wire coexistence use cases. Ensure the team delivers high-quality test coverage for new features, interoperability scenarios, system integration, and regression testing. Partner closely with firmware, embedded software, applications, program management, and global engineering teams across regions to align on priorities, schedules, and release readiness. Establish strong quality processes, metrics, and execution discipline to ensure project deliverables are met as committed. Drive automation coverage for multiprotocol validation while reducing legacy backlog, and steer automation architecture discussions to enable scalable test frameworks aligned with the requirements of individual protocols. Promote a strong quality culture with clear ownership, accountability, and a can-do attitude across the team. Regularly communicate project status, quality metrics, risks, and mitigation plans to local and global leadership. Champion continuous improvement in QA methodologies, tools, infrastructure, and team effectiveness. Drive adoption of modern engineering productivity practices, including Gen AI-assisted development and QA initiatives, to improve team efficiency, automation velocity, and engineering effectiveness. What We Are Looking For Proven experience in building and managing software quality assurance teams, preferably in the embedded systems, wireless connectivity, or semiconductor domain. Strong understanding of embedded software and firmware validation for MCU- and wireless SoC-based systems. Hands-on experience testing or validating wireless protocols such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), IEEE 802.15.4, Thread/OpenThread, Zigbee, Matter over Thread, and selected Wi-Fi coexistence scenarios. Good understanding of multiprotocol system behavior, coexistence, interoperability, and end-to-end use-case validation. Experience testing or developing embedded software products. Strong understanding of data communications and networking concepts. Experience working closely with cross-functional global teams including development, program management, and field/application engineering, with the ability to work flexibly across time zones supporting teams in the USA and Europe. Strong track record of driving execution, resolving project risks, and delivering to schedule commitments. Demonstrated experience in driving an engineering productivity or quality initiative using Generative AI tools, such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar platforms. Experience with CI/CD workflows and quality practices. Strong working knowledge of version control systems, especially Git. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C, and Java for test development, automation, and debugging. Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills. A creative, flexible, pragmatic leadership style, with strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced engineering environment. Experience required: 12+ years in wireless; 2+ years managing 5-8 member team; tools like Jira; ability to work independently. Preferred qualifications include experience with Silicon Labs EFR platforms, test automation, and interoperability ecosystems.
