Orimattila is a city of approximately 16,000 inhabitants in Päijät-Häme, located near Lahti and the capital region. The city's strengths include a diverse economic structure, an active business community, a smooth everyday life, and good transport connections. Orimattila aims to strengthen its vitality, develop its services proactively, and build the future in cooperation with residents, businesses, and other partners. We are seeking a City Manager for the City of Orimattila. As City Manager, you will lead the city's operations, finances, and group, and be responsible for the implementation of the city strategy. You will serve as the city's highest official, the presenter for the City Board, and lead the city's management team. In the position of City Manager, you will build Orimattila's future in cooperation with elected officials, staff, businesses, and other key stakeholders. Your work will emphasize balanced financial management, strengthening the city's vitality, organizational development, and the promotion of open and constructive cooperation. Through your own actions, you will set the direction for an open, bold, and proactive operational culture where development is collaborative and tasks are carried through to completion. Success in the position requires: - a suitable higher education degree - evidence of demanding management roles - strong financial expertise and experience in financial management - experience in strategy implementation and organizational development - the ability to operate in a politically led environment - excellent interaction, communication, cooperation, and negotiation skills. We value strong knowledge of public administration as well as evidence of developing vitality, business cooperation, and impactful stakeholder work. You will be supported by competent staff, committed elected officials, and diverse cooperation networks. The City Manager is selected for a five-year fixed-term official relationship. The position will be filled according to the agreement. The person selected must present an acceptable medical certificate regarding their health within 30 days of receiving the selection decision. A six-month probationary period applies to the position. Applications for the City Manager position are accepted via Kuntarekry until September 4, 2026, at 12:00. The application must include a degree certificate proving eligibility, a CV, and a motivation letter (max. one A4 page). The applicant may state their salary request. A suitability assessment may be used as part of the recruitment process. Interviews will be organized according to the preliminary schedule on September 16, 2026.
