Job Description
Do you want to do work that is meaningful, valuable, and important by helping another person? Are you interested in varied working hours and versatility? I am looking for an energetic personal assistant for myself. Perhaps you are the one who has the time to meet my needs and wishes to live a full life in my own way. Do you want to help me implement and live my life in my daily activities and enable this both at home and outside the home? I am a tetraplegic man over 60 years old and I am looking for a personal assistant for approximately (1-2) weekends a month or on-call work for shifts of various lengths on weekends, and sometimes on weekdays. No formal training is strictly required for the job; it is learned by doing. Practical nurse or other healthcare training, studies in the field, or previous experience as an assistant is an advantage. Tasks include, among other things, dressing/undressing and lifts/transfers to a wheelchair or other equipment. My physiotherapist will orient you in the transfers. Assistance in the shower and toilet, other intimate hygiene, and small-scale care work/assistance, etc. Basic household chores are naturally part of the job, as is supporting a as normal a life as possible. Briefly put, you will be my "hands and feet" in matters that I would otherwise do myself. A good command of the Finnish language is essential, as the working language is Finnish. NOTE: Job applications sent in English will not be considered at all; the working language is Finnish. Working hours are approx. 8 h / day and 16 h / weekend, and the 8 h / day is divided into three periods: morning, day, and evening, because my need for assistance is focused this way and I am quite independent for a severely disabled person. The nature of the work and the tasks will be explained better during the job interview. Other matters will also be discussed so that you better understand why the working hours are structured this way and the positive aspects it brings. Living in the Lahti city center area or nearby is an advantage due to commuting, or having your own car if you live further away is also an advantage. Possibility to do so-called on-call work on weekdays or weekends if I have a need and the shift or day suits the assistant. Occasionally there is a need for an assistant to substitute for another assistant on weekdays. At some point, there would also be small-scale trips from time to time, such as visiting friends, relatives, or attending an event. I need you to come along to help with these, and at the same time, you will get to see new places. Hours are then calculated based on the duration of the trip, meaning the working day can be much longer than 8 h, and trips are planned together at a time that suits both parties. I can best be reached via email: jarpak505@gmail.com or on weekdays between 17:00 - 18:00 at 0405 1605 64. I will also answer at other times if I have the chance. The position will be filled immediately upon finding a suitable person.
