Original job description

The Sámediggi (Saameläiskäräjät) announce a temporary vacancy for an International Affairs Specialist. The duties correspond to those listed in the Saame Parliament’s rules, section 51, and include preparing matters related to Sami international activities, representing and supporting the committee and secretariat for international Indigenous and EU affairs, maintaining, coordinating, planning and developing the Parliament’s international activities and implementing the international strategy, assisting staff and chairpersons in international tasks and contacts, and other related duties. The position is based in the Saameläjien general office at the Saameläis Culture Centre Sajoks in Inari. Partial remote work is possible. The appointment begins as agreed in October 2026 and initially lasts until the end of 2026, with potential extension. A one-month trial period applies. Requirements include the official professional qualification for the post and proficiency in the Sámi language (as per Saameläiskäräjäjien rules 71 §). The role benefits from good knowledge of Sámi culture and Indigenous issues, strong written and spoken communication skills, and good collaboration and interpersonal abilities. Ruotsin and English language skills are considered an asset. Salary is determined by the Sámediggi’s pay scale at level IV/II (base salary 2998.97 EUR/month). In addition, a Sámi homeland allowance of 24% and experience-based allowances are paid.
