Technical Director

The Technical Director guides and develops the theatre's technical staff (scenes, lighting and sound department, wardrobe, costumes and properties workshop) in collaboration with department heads. They are responsible for the maintenance of the theatre's technical and other movable assets as well as long-term development and procurement. In addition, they oversee long-term development of the theatre's premises in cooperation with property owners. The Technical Director plays a key role in the theatre's upcoming major renovation project. Overall responsibility for the renovation lies with the CEO, and the Technical Director supports the practical preparation and implementation of the theatre technology aspects. They belong to the theatre's management team and contribute to the realization of the theatre's strategy. They also serve as the theatre's security and safety chief. We expect a systematic way of working and the ability to incorporate financial considerations into decision-making. Excellent people-management skills and leadership that supports the development of a multidisciplinary art organization are valued. We require experience in similar roles in the performing arts. The Technical Director must have excellent communication skills and the ability to operate in occasionally hectic environments and to meet agreed schedules. A Higher University Degree in a technical field is considered advantageous. Interested? Tampereen Työväen Teatteri (TTT) is a national stage preparing for a major renovation in the coming years. At TTT about 150,000 visitors come annually and we are the third-largest theatre in Finland. Our program includes domestic and international premieres, classics, musical theatre and coproductions, visiting performances and restaurant theatre productions. Children’s theatre also has a strong position in our program. Our four stages are located in the Hämeenpuisto theatre district. The theatre’s subsidiary, TTT-Teatteripalvelut Oy, complements the theatre experience with restaurant services and hosts the TTT-club’s music gigs. The company also provides conference and congress services at Puistotorni Conference Centre, which hosts about 10,000 visitors annually. About 125 permanent employees work at the theatre, with nearly the same number of visiting artists. In total, nearly 500 people work in the theatre district annually.
