We are looking for a school assistant for TELMA training in Järvenpää for a fixed-term employment period from 17.8.2026 to 4.6.2027. As a school assistant, your tasks focus on guiding student groups and providing pedagogical support for learning, inclusion, and study skills. You guide and motivate students in various learning situations and support group activities in cooperation with other staff. Depending on the individual functional capacity and support needs of the students, the work may in some cases include assistance, for example, in dressing, eating, or moving. You work as part of a multidisciplinary team and cooperate with the students' close networks. Work tasks vary according to the needs of the student group, the teaching environment, and the situations of the day. Work may include working in morning and afternoon activities. A supportive and rehabilitative approach is needed in the role of a school assistant to support the student's independence and identify strengths. We hope you have: - Good group guidance and interaction skills - A self-motivated, calm, and consistent approach to work - Flexibility, stress tolerance, and the ability to adapt to changing situations - Expertise in special and demanding special support - Suitable education for the position (e.g., a suitable vocational qualification, professional qualification, or specialist professional qualification). Success in the position also requires: - Experience working with students requiring demanding special support - Understanding of the effects of the autism spectrum and intellectual disability on learning, interaction, executive function, and everyday situations - Proficiency in using speech-supporting and alternative communication methods, such as visual communication and support signs - Ability to guide a student group while considering the individual support needs of students - A strongly present guidance approach that strengthens students' inclusion throughout the school day - Readiness to encounter situations where a student's need for support may appear as impulsive or challenging behavior - Ability to anticipate situations and strengthen students' safe everyday life in cooperation with the teacher and other staff. The work is part-time 30 h / week, except for the institution's holiday periods, during which no work is offered. In remuneration and other terms of employment, we follow the collective agreement concerning the private education sector. The salary range for the position is approximately €1681 – €1930 / month. The salary depends on the amount of previous work experience that brings essential benefit to the position. The mentioned salary range corresponds to the working hours stated in the announcement. The person selected for the position must provide a criminal record extract in accordance with the Act on the Checking of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children and Adolescents (504/2002).
