Job Description
Pohjois-Tapiola School is a unified comprehensive school with approximately 840 students, which started operations in August 2022. About 80 students in grades 1-9 are in the autism spectrum education. The teaching is modern, and the staff is enthusiastic about developing their work and skills. The facilities are modern and designed for autism spectrum education. We are located near good transportation links. Special education assistants are part of their own classroom team, which includes 1-2 special class teachers and 3-5 special education assistants. Weekly team meetings facilitate daily operations and professional development. Some classes focus on subject-based learning, while others focus on activity areas. When you start, you will be assigned a mentor who will introduce you to your work and workplace practices. Your tasks may include guiding during lessons, outdoor activities, supervising student transportation, assisting with dressing and meals, or performing care procedures such as diabetes management. Pictures and sign language may be used as speech support. Working hours may vary between 7:25 and 16:30. The workday includes both instructional guidance and morning and afternoon care. Working hours: Minimum 21 hours/week, with a salary of €1,385.64/month. Weekly working hours may vary annually based on resources allocated to support services. Work and salary payments are interrupted for no more than 10 weeks per year during school breaks. The break period is defined annually. Planned working hours are 30-35 hours/week. The position is fixed-term from 12.8.2026 to 6.3.2027. Qualifications: Suitable vocational qualification or equivalent, e.g., practical nurse or developmental disability caregiver. Requirements: - Ability to act as a guide for a children's group - Sufficient Finnish language skills for the tasks. The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract as per the Criminal Records Act, section 6.2.
