As a health centre physician in student health care, you will be part of a community of approximately 40 full-time physicians specializing in maternity and child health, school and student health care, as well as mental health and substance abuse services for children and youth within the wellbeing services county. You will primarily work in Tampere and, if necessary, at other service points within the Pirkanmaa wellbeing services county. What kind of work will you do? Physician duties in student health care include health and medical care for upper secondary education students and student welfare work. As a physician, you will support students' health and wellbeing and act as a medical expert in student welfare work. In outpatient clinic work, the focus is on mental health care. In health examinations, service eligibility is assessed in addition to the ability to study. Services are provided at a centralized location as well as in workspaces connected to vocational colleges and upper secondary schools. Student health care is part of upper secondary student welfare. What do we expect from you? The eligibility requirement is a physician licensed in Finland. We require good written and oral skills in Finnish. Relevant specialist medical training, special training in general medicine, and special competence in adolescent medicine are considered assets. Performing the duties requires good cooperation and interaction skills as well as a positive attitude toward development. Other considerations Work begins on November 2, 2026, or by agreement. The probationary period is six months. The position is full-time, and the weekly working hours are 38 h 15 min. Part-time work may be agreed upon for a fixed term. Before accepting the position, the selected applicant must present a criminal record extract in accordance with Section 6, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Records Act. The selection is conditional until the selected person has presented an occupational health assessment of their ability to perform the duties within one month of starting work. The pre-employment check is conducted at our occupational health service in Pirte. The selected person must have vaccination protection in accordance with Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act (1227/2016) and a respiratory tuberculosis clearance in accordance with Section 55.
