About the role

The wellbeing services county of South Savo (Eloisa) is seeking a Specialist in Nephrology for a permanent official position in the internal medicine unit in Mikkeli, starting October 1, 2026, or by agreement. The South Savo wellbeing services county has two hospitals: Mikkeli Central Hospital and Savonlinna Hospital. Ward and outpatient services are extensive and cover all key specialties. Dialysis and the kidney outpatient clinic operate in both hospitals. Mikkeli Central Hospital is a Level II hospital providing 24/7 emergency services, and specialists in internal medicine handle the general back-up on-call duties. On-call shifts occur on average 2-3 times per month. We are now seeking a Specialist in Nephrology for Mikkeli Central Hospital to be responsible for the care and development of kidney patients in the region. The primary responsibility is for patients in the Mikkeli area, but good cooperation and the development of care across the entire Eloisa region is important. What do we offer? Our salaries are among the highest in the country; Specialist, 10 years from specialist degree: €8,867.13/month - €9,269.63/month Specialist, less than 10 years from specialist degree: €8,464.63/month Personal and local agreement bonuses are added to the position-specific salary. Eligibility requirements for the position are the legalization or permit to act in the duties of a physician as stipulated in the Act on Health Care Professionals (559/94), as well as qualification as a specialist in nephrology. Additionally, sufficient oral and written proficiency in Finnish is required for the performance of the duties. The position requires vaccination protection as required by Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act and a health certificate regarding respiratory tuberculosis according to Section 55. Before the selection is confirmed, the selected candidate must present a health certificate. A six (6) month probationary period applies to the employment relationship.
