Job Description
The Early Childhood Education Services of the City of Porvoo are seeking one temporary Early Childhood Education Teacher, starting from August 3, 2026, to July 31, 2027. The primary starting location is at Päiväkoti Helmi. Päiväkoti Helmi has four Finnish-speaking groups for children aged 1-5 years and two Swedish-speaking immersion groups for children aged 5-6 years. The daycare features bright and comfortable spaces with diverse activities. It is located in the Peippola area near forests and sports fields, with frequent outdoor activities in the local environment. We prioritize a good day for children, ensuring they feel safe and have opportunities to grow and develop as their own valuable selves. Learning occurs together with others, through children’s interests, and by exploring new things. As an Early Childhood Education Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching, caring for, and nurturing the children in your group, and you will participate in developing the pedagogical practices of the entire unit. Together with your team, you will plan, implement, evaluate, and develop activities. You will collaborate with the social pedagogue and parents, and participate in promoting children’s participation in activities. Support is provided by colleagues, supervisors, early childhood education specialists, and a special education teacher. Porvoo is piloting an assistant director model. Qualifications must meet the requirements of the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018). - Working hours: 38.25 hours/week. - Salary according to OVTES level pay scale. The salary for qualified applicants is between €3,030.80 and €3,172.38 per month. An additional qualification supplement of €15/month is paid. - Before appointment, the selected candidate must provide a criminal record extract and a tuberculosis screening questionnaire as required by law. - Probation period is half of the employment period, but no more than 6 months.
