About the role

The University of Oulu is a multidisciplinary, internationally active research university. We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher for the Unit of Psychology in the Faculty of Education and Psychology for a fixed-term contract from 14.9.2026 to 31.12.2028. The unit conducts high-level research in developmental, learning, personality, clinical, and cognitive psychology, as well as cognitive neuroscience. Oulu is a strong city for technological research, and the unit benefits from proximity to Infotech Oulu, Oulu University Hospital (OYS), and health technology operators. The environment is truly interdisciplinary (medicine, computer science, education, logopedics, biomedicine, engineering). Duties: - Research at the intersection of cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and clinical neuropsychology. - Publishing articles in high-level international series, applying for funding, and increasing international networks. - Teaching primarily in Finnish-language modules of the psychology degree program (e.g., cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience, neuropsychology). - Course teaching, assisting in teaching, and supervising theses. - Student guidance (tutor activities) and minor administrative tasks. Requirements: - Doctoral degree in psychology, cognitive science, cognitive neuroscience, or another applicable field (completed by the end of the application period, no more than 10 years ago). - Demonstrated expertise in psychology through scientific articles. - Research linked to the unit's activities, especially cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience, or neuropsychology. - Ability for independent scientific work. - Good teaching skills. - Fluent written and spoken Finnish and English. Preferred: - Success in applying for external research funding. - Strong command of quantitative methods and programming experience. - Psychology-related teaching and guidance experience, especially in a university context. Salary: - Fixed-term 14.9.2026-31.12.2028. - Salary level 5-6 in the university's payment system. Performance-based pay up to 50% of the task-specific part. Typical salary in similar roles is 3700-4300 €/month. - 6-month probationary period.
