Planer / Quality inspector

Pieksäwood Oy is a Finnish family business founded in 1948. We manufacture high-quality wood products in Pieksämäki, especially for saunas and interior design. Our production covers the entire chain from sawing to heat treatment and planing. We are growing in Finland and internationally, and our products are delivered to customers around the world. We are now looking for a planer operator/timber grader for our production team in a permanent position. What will the work involve? You will work in varied production tasks in our planing department. An important part of the job is grading the quality of planed timber. Your duties include, for example: - Assessing and grading timber quality according to our quality requirements - Working on the planing line - Other production tasks related to the planing mill The work is currently mainly on weekdays from 7:00 to 15:00. However, we hope you are prepared to work shifts when needed. What do we hope for from you? We particularly value: - A careful and self-directed approach to work - A good eye for quality and attentiveness - The ability to make independent and quick decisions - A team-oriented attitude Experience in planing and familiarity with planing machines and equipment are beneficial, but not essential. Previous experience grading timber—for example, working as a grader at a sawmill—is also considered an advantage. We will introduce you to Pieksäwood’s products, quality criteria and working methods. Finnish language skills are not essential for the role, but we consider them an advantage; our work community is multilingual. You can manage in the job with good English skills. We also hope you are willing to learn Finnish.
