Practical Nurse

At the Auranlaakso housing unit, you will work alongside people to enable them to live a life true to themselves. Your Role You will work as a practical nurse in intensive housing services for people with intellectual disabilities at the Auranlaakso housing unit. The unit houses adults who require strong psycho-social support, particularly in processing emotions and managing daily life. You will guide and assist clients in daily activities, such as home care, personal hygiene, and running errands. Conversations with clients are a central part of your work - you will use plain language and, if necessary, alternative communication methods to structure emotions and situations. Your work also includes outdoor activities and enabling things according to the clients' wishes. Client work is primarily guiding, and nursing care is minimal; clients exhibit varying degrees of behavioral disorders and challenges in processing emotions. The work requires patience and good emotional skills. Additionally, you will participate in nursing documentation, act as a primary nurse, and attend network meetings. Your duties also include medication responsibility shifts, where you distribute medications into dosette boxes, and assisting clients at doctor's appointments when necessary. In the unit, you will work with committed and skilled colleagues. The work is performed in three shifts. What We Expect From You We expect an interest in work with intellectual disabilities and the ability to encounter clients calmly and respectfully, even in challenging situations. We value experience in intellectual disability work, Avekki training, Swedish language skills, and expertise in alternative communication methods. Good emotional regulation skills are also considered an advantage. The eligibility requirement is a vocational qualification in social and health care (practical nurse) or a previous school-level degree in the field.
