About the role

The school and child welfare clinic physician is a medical expert in the growth and development of children and adolescents. You will be part of a community of approximately 40 full-time physicians in child welfare, school and student health care, and mental health and substance abuse services for children and adolescents within the wellbeing services county. The focus of the position is on child welfare clinic work (maternity, preventive, and/or child clinics) and school health care. If the applicant wishes, it is possible to combine this with outpatient work at a social and health care station. You will work primarily in Pirkkala and Tampere, and if necessary, at other service points within the Pirkanmaa wellbeing services county. The goal of the work is to support the growth and development of children and adolescents, ensure the wellbeing of pregnant women, and strengthen the wellbeing of the entire family while preventing social exclusion. In addition to health screenings, assessing the need for special support, arranging necessary follow-up actions, and collaborating with other family center operators are essential parts of the work. As a physician, your duties also include providing consultation support to other professionals and developing your own work. Eligibility requirement: A physician licensed in Finland. Performing the duties requires good oral and written skills in Finnish. Relevant specialist medical training, special training in general medicine, or special competence in child welfare and school health care or adolescent medicine will be considered an advantage. Special expertise in maternity and preventive clinics is seen as an advantage. We value good interaction skills, the ability to work with diverse families and operate multidisciplinarily, and a positive attitude toward development. Start in a permanent position on March 1, 2027, or by agreement. The probationary period is six months. The work is full-time, and the weekly working hours in the position are 38 h 15 min. Part-time work may be agreed upon for a fixed term. Before accepting the position, the selected candidate must present a criminal record extract in accordance with Section 6, subsection 2 of the Criminal Records Act and health certificates required within one month of starting work. The pre-employment medical examination is conducted at our occupational health service in Pirte. The selected candidate must have vaccination protection in accordance with Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act (1227/2016) and a respiratory tuberculosis report in accordance with Section 55.
