Chief Physician

HUS Abdominal Center is seeking a Chief Physician for vascular surgery. The selected person will serve as the Chief Physician and administrative supervisor for the vascular surgery specialty within the Abdominal Center, including the role of Line Manager for the vascular surgery line. The line's tasks and administrative responsibilities are defined in the HUS group's administrative and operational rules. The vascular surgery line operates at the Meilahti hospital campus in Helsinki and at Hyvinkää hospital. Both units have ward, outpatient, and surgical operations. Currently, 27 specialists and 12 residents work on the vascular surgery line. The office holder is responsible for the clinical operations of the aforementioned units and their development, as well as supporting and promoting teaching and research in their specialty. Additionally, they are responsible for the coordination of specialized care in their field within the HUS area and cooperation in the Southern Finland YTA area together with the division director. The selected person will participate in the development and administrative work of the Abdominal Center and belong to the Abdominal Center's management team. Successful management of the Chief Physician/Line Manager position requires experience and demonstrated success in leadership and operational development, as well as flexibility and cooperation skills. The office holder is expected to recognize the future focus areas of the field within the HUS area, the YTA area, nationally, and internationally. In the selection process, emphasis is placed on the ability for broad development of the line's operations and processes and quality assurance, negotiation skills, innovativeness, and the ability to lead change. Administrative training supporting the management of a specialized medical care unit and experience in administrative or leadership positions in the field are considered an advantage. Eligibility Requirements: Specialist qualification in a suitable specialty and the title of docent in a suitable specialty, as well as experience in administrative or leadership positions in the field, and additionally a licensed physician or permission to act in physician duties. For the position being applied for, the suitable specialty is vascular surgery. Language requirements: Good oral and written skills in Finnish and satisfactory oral and written skills in Swedish, or good oral and written skills in Swedish and satisfactory oral and written skills in Finnish. We require vaccination protection according to the Communicable Diseases Act for those working in customer and patient areas, and a health statement on pulmonary tuberculosis for those working in healthcare units.
