It can be said with good reason that the school staff in the basic education of the City of Jyväskylä is among the best in the country. Especially important things in our teaching work are well-being, inclusion, and an interactive operational culture, as well as the utilization of information and communication technology in learning. Now we are looking for a PART-TIME HOURLY TEACHER (Igbo language) for a fixed-term position from 1.9.2026 to 31.7.2027. The placement at the start of the employment is Language and Cultural Groups teaching. The unit for Language and Cultural Groups teaching includes the planning, development, and coordination of language teaching and teaching for different cultural groups. The activities coordinated by the unit target every student in the city. The unit employs multicultural and multilingual employees, whose job description essentially includes visiting different schools. Language and Cultural Groups teaching offers a versatile, multilingual, multicultural, and varied working environment. The Igbo native language teacher teaches the curriculum according to Appendix 3 of the basic education curriculum for multilingual 6–18-year-old students in pre-primary, basic, and secondary education who speak Igbo as their native language. Working time is two (2) hours per week. The school where teaching is organized is possibly Kuokkala Comprehensive School. Eligibility for the position is the qualification of a class teacher, special education teacher, special class teacher, or language teacher according to Decree 986/1998 on the qualifications of teaching staff. The applicant must attach certificates proving eligibility to the application. In the absence of applicants meeting the eligibility condition, an applicant with sufficient education and the skill required for the task may be considered. The task requires good interaction and cooperation skills. The applicant is expected to speak Igbo as their native language and be familiar with the Finnish school system. Terms of employment are determined by the Municipal Education Personnel's Official and Collective Agreement (OVTES). Task-specific salary from 3168.39 - 3393.61 €/month. In addition, possible salary supplements according to OVTES are paid. Working time percentage is 8.33%. Start date is 1.9.2026 or by agreement. Within 30 days of notification of the selection decision, the selected person must present an acceptable certificate of their health status and a criminal record extract as intended by the Act on the Checking of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children (504/2002), which must not be older than six months.
