Child Day Care Worker

This Finnish vacancy describes a warm, collaborative early childhood education role in Pornais—teaching and caring for children in the Makasiinikujan day care unit, with emphasis on child well-being, participation, and staff development. The role involves working with a team across three day care groups (Linnunlaulun pk, Makasiinikujan pk, Aurinkomäen pk) to serve 12 groups in total, including cooperation with a Taikataimien group in a neighboring building. The nursery operates in a calm, green rural setting near nature, offering opportunities for development in pedagogy and teaching. The unit includes a director, deputy director, a coordinating special education teacher, an education specialist, and a day care supervisor, with frequent contact at the workplace. Collaboration with the Porvoon music institute is part of activities, offering free participation for children in muskareissa during the day. The ideal candidate is a warm early childhood professional who collaborates with children, families, and colleagues, demonstrates sensitivity and strengths-based pedagogy, and embraces innovative methods that benefit the child. A calm, present approach to the child guides daily practice, with accountability and teamwork valued. Fluency in Finnish is required. Eligibility follows the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) Chapter 6. Salary and other terms follow the KVTES level scale (2561.39–2676.70 €/month plus possible experience bonuses).
