About the role

Come to Pornainen, close to everything, to work with us and develop early childhood education and pre-primary education! What we offer you: As an early childhood education childcare worker, your placement will be in a group of 10 children aged 3-5 with two educators at the Makasiinikuja daycare center. The group operates in cooperation with another group, Makasiinikujan Taikataimet, regarding shifts and, if necessary, activities; this group is physically located in the adjacent building. Important aspects of early childhood education and pre-primary education in Pornainen are the well-being of children and families, children's participation, and the maintenance of staff expertise. In Pornainen, you will work in a peaceful, green environment close to nature, and the location in a quiet rural landscape provides excellent conditions and development opportunities for education and teaching. The early childhood education unit consists of three daycare centers: Linnunlaulu daycare: 8 early childhood education groups, Makasiinikuja daycare: 2 early childhood education groups, Aurinkomäki daycare: 2 pre-primary education groups; a total of 12 groups across the units. Our staff resources are functional; in some groups, 4 educators work when necessary. During the workday, you can enjoy hot coffee provided by the municipality during your break, and outside of working hours, you have access to the municipality's gym for your own exercise. As a municipal employee, you are entitled to sports and leisure vouchers as well as comprehensive occupational health care. In Pornainen, we have a flexible and positive attitude toward staff training and support self-directed study according to the separate guidelines of the Education Board through paid study days and working hour arrangements in the work unit. In Pornainen, you will work in cooperation with the assistant director, the coordinating special education teacher for early childhood education, the early childhood education expert, and the daycare director, whom you can usually reach from your workplace! We also collaborate with the Porvoo Music Institute in "muskarit" (music classes), which all interested children can participate in free of charge during the early childhood education day. How to join us: As an educator, you are a warm early childhood education professional who works in cooperation with children, colleagues, and families. Sensitivity, strength-based pedagogy, and a positive work approach are your hallmarks, regardless of the age of the children you work with. You are comfortable with an innovative, daring way of working where you develop, implement, and evaluate new operating models in the best interest of the child. Your work is guided by a strong presence for the child, and you experience strength-based pedagogy as your own way of operating. With us, you work for the children and take responsibility for your work with professional skill; as a team player, you are a valuable "reliable asset" to us. We require fluent Finnish language skills from the applicant. Eligibility requirements are determined in accordance with Chapter 6 of the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018). Salary and other terms of employment are determined according to the KVTES level salary (€ 2,561.39 - € 2,676.70 / month + possible work experience additions). There is a 5-month probationary period for the position. In the absence of eligible applicants, we will also consider students in the field and other applicants lacking formal eligibility. Before selection, the applicant is required to present a criminal record extract (Act on the Checking of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children 504/2002). The Communicable Diseases Act (§55) obliges the clarification of the risk of tuberculosis infection for those working with children under school age before the employment relationship begins. A tuberculosis questionnaire is given to the applicant during the application/selection phase. The tuberculosis questionnaire used is the one prepared by the Finnish Occupational Health Institute (TTL) and its interpretation guidelines: https://www.ttl.fi/teemat/tyoterveys/pandemiat-ja-epidemiat/tuberkuloosiin-liittyvat-terveystarkastukset. How to apply: The application must be submitted electronically at www.kuntarekry.fi (job key por-02-18-26) by Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 12:00 PM. Original degree certificates proving eligibility must be presented during a possible interview. Interviews may begin during the application period if necessary.
