Merikatu School is seeking a SPECIAL CLASS TEACHER for a fixed-term position from August 18 to December 31, 2026. Job Description In your role, you will be responsible for identifying students' support needs as well as planning and implementing flexible, part-time special education as part of a team that includes another special class teacher and a resource teacher. You will work closely in support of the entire school community. The position consists of 22 hours per week. Skills The performance of the duties requires good cooperation and interaction skills, flexibility, and experience working with young people. Eligibility Requirements Eligibility conditions are determined in accordance with the Decree on the Qualifications of Teaching Staff (986/1998). In the absence of eligible applicants, the fixed-term position may also be filled by a person who does not have the degree required by the eligibility condition. Original certificates proving eligibility must be presented during a possible interview. Employment Relationship Salary and terms of employment are determined according to the Municipal Teaching Staff Collective Agreement (OVTES). The basic salary for teachers in the City of Raahe exceeds the table salary according to OVTES. Within 30 days of receiving the selection decision, the selected person must present an acceptable medical certificate and a criminal record extract as intended by the Act on the Checking of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children (504/2002), which must not be older than six months. We use a probationary period in fixed-term employment relationships, which is at most half the duration of the employment relationship.
