Special Education Teacher

Apply to our community early childhood education unit Muksulaakso-Pacius as a special education teacher! You will be our unit's expert in early childhood special pedagogy and support issues. In your work, you will act as an expert in early childhood special pedagogy and support issues. You will work in different children's groups as agreed according to the children's support needs. Your duties also include consulting teams, e.g., in the planning and evaluation of child support, and multidisciplinary cooperation in support of other staff. In addition, in your job, you will be able to work closely with the daycare director and assistant director. Together with other staff, you are responsible for the planning of activities, observing the child's need for support, guiding and supporting the child in early childhood education and pre-primary education. You will participate in building a pedagogically suitable operating culture and learning environment for the child in co-teaching. Operation is based on the Helsinki early childhood education and pre-primary education plan, the early childhood education unit's action plan and child-specific plans. Eligibility requirements: We require that you have eligibility in accordance with the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) or eligibility for the position of early childhood education teacher in accordance with the transitional provision (75 §), in addition to which you have completed studies that provide professional readiness for special education tasks, which are decreed by government decree; or you have a Master's degree in Education with a major in special pedagogy (early childhood special education teacher training). A recognition decision made by the National Agency for Education on the basis of foreign education for the eligibility for the position applied for also fulfills the eligibility requirement. In addition, we require good oral and written skills in Finnish. The selected person must present a valid criminal record extract for working with children (504/2002). A tuberculosis clearance for the respiratory organs of those working with children under school age is checked (Infectious Diseases Act § 55). When you start a permanent employment relationship as an early childhood special education teacher with the City of Helsinki in 2026, we offer you an incentive bonus of 2000 euros.
