Freelance Senior Accountant | Antwerp | Utilities Job spec: Senior Accountant Location: Belgium, Antwerp (Hybrid, on-site, remote) Contract: Freelance/Contract Job Overview: We are looking for an experienced Freelance Senior Accountant to join our client's finance team. This role is perfect for someone with a strong accounting background who can manage day-to-day financial operations, ensure accurate financial reporting and support the wider finance function. This role will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy and ensuring compliance with local accounting standards. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports. Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities. Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies. Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with Belgian tax regulations. Support the preparation of statutory accounts and financial statements. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting. Support internal and external audits by providing relevant documentation. Work closely with the finance team and other departments to improve financial processes and reporting. Key Requirements: Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or in a similar accounting role. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting. Experience working with ERP systems. Good understanding of Belgian GAAP; IFRS knowledge is a plus. Excellent communication skills. Fluent in English.
