A 16-year-old boy with an intellectual disability, who is however very functional and independent, is looking for a physical activity assistant in Pieksämäki. Due to joint visits to the swimming hall and locker room situations, the assistant must be male. The boy is a cheerful, friendly, and approachable young person who is pleasant to spend time with. He is starting his studies at Spesia in Pieksämäki and is looking for a reliable adult or student to accompany him in leisure sports activities after school days. During the week, the boy lives in the school dormitory; on weekends and holidays, he is at home in Jyväskylä. Work is mainly Monday-Thursday evenings from 4 PM to 8 PM, approximately 1-2 times/week, 1.5-2 h/session. Working hours are agreed upon flexibly. Most of the shared time is spent at the gym and swimming, so we hope the applicant has an interest in exercise and especially gym training. The youth is an enthusiastic trainer, so we hope you know how to use gym equipment safely and can guide training and plan suitable exercises for him. The purpose is not to act as a personal trainer, but primarily as an inspiring training partner and support. You are welcome to do your own similar workout while training together. Occasionally, you may also go swimming or engage in other pleasant leisure activities outside of school. The youth is also keen on skiing and cycling. The job does not include care procedures, housework, or cooking, but focuses on exercise, doing things together, and supporting the youth's independent leisure time. We hope that you are: - physically active and enjoy the gym - reliable, cheerful, and encouraging - proactive and approachable The position is an excellent fit for, for example, students of sports coaching, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, practical nursing, or social work, but the most important things are the right attitude and an interest in exercise. If you are interested, please describe briefly in your application yourself, your sports background, and why you would be a good training partner for the youth.
