The Service Automation Engineering Unit plays a crucial role in enhancing automation solutions that drive efficiency and innovation aligned with UNDP's digital transformation agenda. The Development Analyst under the supervision of the Service Automation Engineering Specialist will support the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of software applications and automation tools. The analyst will contribute to the technical implementation of solutions using technologies including Rust, Node.js, Python, and Docker. This role ensures the integration of modern software development practices and supports innovation in service automation. Scope of Work 1. Software Development and Implementation Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality production-grade applications using Rust Node.js and Python, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability. Architect and build cloud-ready, containerized applications using Docker and modern microservices principles to support distributed and scalable systems. Collaborate and drive the integration of automation and AI-driven tools with UNDP’s enterprise IT ecosystem, ensuring seamless interoperability and data flow across UNDP IT infrastructure. Apply secure coding practices and optimize applications for performance, resilience, and maintainability in enterprise environments. 2. Technical Support and Maintenance Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across applications and automation systems, ensuring high availability and system reliability. Proactively identify opportunities for performance optimization, system enhancements, and technical innovation. Translate user feedback and operational requirements into iterative improvements and feature enhancements Enforce UNDP/ITM standard and industry best practices in coding standards, documentation, and version control, ensuring maintainable and scalable codebases. 3. Collaboration and Teamwork Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, data, and business stakeholders) to support design end-to-end digital solutions that address complex operational challenges. Participate in agile development processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Support knowledge sharing and capacity-building activities within the team. 4. Research innovation and facilitate knowledge management Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies related to software development and automation. Evaluate new tools and propose innovative solutions to enhance service delivery. Contribute to the development and documentation of best practices and guidelines. Promote a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation within the development team. Identify and promote different systems and applications for optimal content management, knowledge management and sharing and information provision. 5. Reporting and Documentation Prepare technical reports, user guides, and system documentation for developed solutions. Contribute to technical documentation, solution architecture artifacts, and knowledge repositories. Maintain accurate records of development activities and project progress. Support compliance with organizational policies and IT governance requirements. The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization. Institutional Arrangement On a day-to-day basis, the Development Analyst will be working with and directly reporting to the Service
