As a Specialist Librarian, you will lead the library's five-person children's and youth team and actively develop library services for children and young people. As the team leader, you are responsible for the team's operations, such as the action plan, children's events (including the popular monthly children's Saturdays), and the development of literacy work aimed at children and youth. Additionally, your duties include guidance according to the basic education cultural education plan 'Elämyspolku', such as book recommendations and media education for grades 1-4. A key part of your work is collaborating with various parties, such as early childhood education, pre-primary and basic education, other city operators, and third-sector actors, in implementing and developing library services for children and youth. The work includes shifts in the library's customer service as well as regular evening and weekend work. At the Raisio Central Library, you will find an experienced and multidisciplinary community of about twenty people who value a good working atmosphere. In addition to the city library, the Central Library houses the Raisio Museum Harkko and the Martinsali auditorium. We expect an enthusiastic approach to children's and youth library work, a vision for developing these services, an independent work style, and excellent collaboration and communication skills. Group guidance skills, experience in organizing events for children and youth and providing book recommendations, as well as good knowledge of materials aimed at children and youth, are considered an advantage. The eligibility requirement for the specialist librarian position is a suitable higher education degree, which includes or is supplemented by at least 60 ECTS (35 credit hours) of studies in library and information science. We require excellent proficiency in Finnish and good proficiency in English. Remuneration and other terms of employment are determined according to KVTES. The position-specific level salary is 3,140.48 euros. A 6-month probationary period applies to the filling of the position. The selected person must provide an acceptable medical certificate of health.
