Porvoo City’s basic education and upper secondary education services in Finnish are seeking a School Assistant for a permanent position, 30 hours per week, starting 26 October 2026. Primary placement is Pääskytien School in Porvoo. The city is growing and multicultural; the schools operate on joint work, joy of learning and high-quality pedagogy. Pääskytien School teaches grades 7–9 and is located on the western coast of Porvoo, in a rural setting. About 600 students study there with around 70 staff daily. The school aims to provide high-quality education while respecting individual differences, in a modern safe learning environment. The school features emphasized physical education. The direct supervisor for School Assistants is the Deputy Principal; the School Assistant typically works with a special needs teacher as a team. The team currently consists of six School Assistants who collaborate closely to share tasks and support each other in daily work. Responsibilities include assisting students with school tasks, participating in student upbringing, teaching and guidance, assisting in lesson preparation and school activities with teachers, participating in planning and assessment related to students, and promoting educational goals, independence and self-confidence. Applicants should have strong cooperation and communication skills, willingness to work in a team, and eagerness to support children and adolescents; there is a preference for willingness to develop one’s own skills and competencies.
