We are seeking three social workers for the Helsinki social emergency services in a fixed-term official relationship until 30.6.2027. Start as soon as possible or by 1.10.2026. The start date is affected by when the security clearance for the fixed-term position is completed. A limited security clearance is required for social and crisis emergency service employees. Due to the anticipation of service needs from the legislative reform of social welfare and child welfare, all open social worker positions are currently filled as fixed-term until 30.6.2027. Your duties in the social emergency service include assessing the need for essential and urgent social services and taking possible measures. The need for help may relate to a child's unsafe conditions, concerning behavior of a child or young person, the social welfare needs of an adult or an elderly person, or domestic violence. As an emergency social worker, you work in unpredictable and sudden situations that require the ability for holistic and rapid assessment, individual discretion, and decision-making under pressure. Your work is varied and interesting. You will be able to use your expertise extensively in customer work and its development. During the shift, you work together with an experienced and competent team. The social emergency service is also a unique vantage point for social work phenomena and societal changes. In accordance with the contingency plan, our unit includes 24/7 major accident readiness together with the crisis emergency service, as well as the organization and coordination of acute psychosocial support in crisis and major accident situations. We work closely with the emergency center, police, rescue service, and official social services. Our range of partners is wide. Success in the position also requires the ability and willingness to adopt various tools and information systems (Apotti, KEJO field management system, and VIRVE devices). The work is three-shift work focusing on evenings, nights, and weekends. Evening, night, and weekend bonuses are paid for three-shift work in accordance with the official agreement (social and health care employment and official agreement). Eligibility requirement: Eligibility is based on the qualification of a social worker according to Section 7 of the Act on Social Welfare Professionals 817/2015. Language requirement: good oral and written skills in Finnish and satisfactory oral skills in Swedish. The position requires vaccination protection according to Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act and a tuberculosis investigation according to Section 55. A passed security clearance (limited) is required. A criminal record extract is required (Act on the investigation of the criminal background of persons working with children 504/2002). A criminal record extract for those working with elderly persons is required (Act on the supervision of social and health care 741/2023, Section 28). There is a probationary period of three months. Additionally, we require: - experience in social work, especially child welfare or social emergency work - good cooperation skills - ability to meet clients in crisis - ability to do pair and team work - ability to act in unexpected emergency situations and an independent and solution-oriented approach to work. Knowledge of the City of Helsinki's service system and the Apotti information system is considered an advantage.
