We are looking for an early childhood education teacher for a fixed-term substitute position starting September 1, 2026. Our day care centre has seven different groups, from toddlers to preschool children. Each group is staffed by two teachers and one childcare worker. We are currently seeking a second teacher for the 3-5-year-old group. This position offers the possibility of 80% working hours. As an early childhood education teacher, you will be responsible for the group's pedagogy and implement activities according to the preschool curriculum together with your team. In cooperation with other team members, you will ensure that children experience moments of wonder, insight, and learning. In addition to yourself, the team consists of a qualified teacher and two qualified childcare workers. Opinmäki Day Care Centre is a Finnish-language day care centre, but we are a multilingual and multicultural community. Supporting language and teaching language skills are among our primary goals. It is important to us that every child and adult is met positively and with respect. We also enjoy guiding students and serve as a training day care centre for the University of Helsinki. Eligibility requirement: Qualification according to the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018). At least a Bachelor of Education degree including early childhood education teacher training, or a University of Applied Sciences degree in social services and health care (early childhood education), or a previous equivalent college-level degree, e.g., kindergarten teacher or social educator (Act 272/2005 and Decree no. 608/2005). Recently graduated early childhood education teachers will also be considered. Performance of the duties requires excellent Finnish language skills. The selected person must present a criminal record extract as referred to in Section 6.2 of the Criminal Records Act. The Communicable Diseases Act requires the verification of tuberculosis infection risk for those working with children under school age.
