About the role

We are seeking an expert in RDI (research, development and innovation activities) to strengthen Diakonianlaakson regional RDI cooperation in Eastern Finland and nationally and internationally in line with our strategy. The role focuses on preparing domestic and international RDI projects, successful funding applications, assembling project networks and productive stakeholder and business collaboration. The position area is Eastern Finland, with Pieksämäki as the primary campus; work can be done flexibly also remotely within the Eastern Finland region. The expert will have a deep understanding of networks, actors and funding landscape in Eastern Finland and will contribute to strengthening regional vitality and increasing Diaki’s RDI funding. The tasks include monitoring domestic and international funding programmes, matching Diak’s project ideas to open calls, and, in collaboration with partner organisations’ experts, planning and writing project applications. You will serve as the lead preparer in negotiation and project preparation processes with partners and funders, and you will develop Diak’s and the Eastern Finland region’s networks and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Follow national and international funding programmes and emerging calls and align Diak’s project ideas to them
  • Contribute to planning and preparation of domestic and international projects in line with Diak’s strategy, and write project proposals in collaboration with Diak and partner organizations' experts
  • Act as lead preparer in negotiation and project preparation processes with partners and funders
  • Be present in Eastern Finland and develop Diak’s and the region’s networks, actors and TKI funding landscape to strengthen regional vitality and increase funding
  • Actively engage in industry collaboration, seek private-sector partners, and identify new collaboration opportunities across sectors in Eastern Finland
  • Participate in the diverse development of Diak’s TKI activities

Requirements

  • A relevant higher education degree
  • Strong, evidence-based results in successful national and international TKI funding applications and successful grant approvals (e.g. EU Structural Funds, Horizon Europe, Interreg)
  • Extensive knowledge of domestic and international TKI funding instruments for universities of applied sciences and ability to seek and utilise new funding sources
  • Budgeting skills required for project preparation
  • Strong existing networks in Eastern Finland (regional development companies, municipalities, companies, NGOs and funders) and internationally
  • Experience in productive industry collaboration and understanding of how technologies (e.g., wellbeing and health technology) can be utilised in TKI activities
  • Creative ability to ideate projects, ability to grasp large entities and attention to detail in budgeting large projects
  • Fluent spoken and written English and Finnish
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills and an independent, solution-oriented work style
  • Desirable: broad knowledge of the social and health care field combined with wellbeing technology or digital competence and/or AI and robotics
