About the role

Mäntsälä's early childhood education focuses on developing play and supporting the language development and literacy skills of young children. You will work as part of a unit of six kindergarten directors, serving approximately 800 children. We are looking for a consulting early childhood special education teacher (kveo) for a permanent employment contract starting September 1, 2026, or as agreed. The specific units in your area will be defined when the work begins. The job requires the use of your own car, and travel expenses will be paid. As an expert in early special pedagogy, you are responsible for matters related to the support of a child's development, learning, and well-being in early childhood education and pre-primary education. Your duties include consulting, modeling, joint and simultaneous teaching, supporting play, providing group-specific support in pre-primary education, and versatile network cooperation. You work closely with the staff of the groups. Assessment practices for the effectiveness of child support support your work in the groups. You are part of the kindergarten's development working group together with the kindergarten director and assistant director. We expect good interaction and community skills, a positive attitude, and a flexible, solution-oriented, and developing approach to work. You are also part of the child support team, where five other consulting early childhood special education teachers and an early childhood language and culture teacher work in addition to you. Additionally, you participate as needed in the municipality's early special education working group, which develops the line of early special education operating methods and processes, implementing them in practice. Strong special pedagogical expertise and practical work experience in early special education are considered an advantage. In the coming years, the pedagogical focus in Mäntsälä's early childhood education is to support and strengthen play in children's everyday lives and to develop the expertise of the staff. Eligibility requirements for the position are determined according to Section 30 of the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018): eligibility for the position of early childhood education teacher (at least a Bachelor of Education degree including kindergarten teacher training, or a university of applied sciences degree in social and health care including early childhood education and social pedagogy studies, 60 ECTS, or a social worker's degree supplemented by the aforementioned studies), in addition to which studies providing professional readiness for special education tasks have been completed; or a Master of Education with a major in special pedagogy (early special education teacher training). Salary and terms of employment are determined according to the municipal official and collective agreement. Position-specific salary: 3383.34 eur/month. In addition, a supplement based on work experience can be paid based on previous work experience. A six-month probationary period is followed in filling the position. Mäntsälä is an education- and development-oriented municipality. We support well-being at work with sports, culture, and well-being benefits. We offer you an interesting and versatile job in a multidisciplinary work community. You will be supported by competent and motivated colleagues. The person selected for the position must present an acceptable criminal record extract as referred to in Section 6, subsection 2 of the Criminal Records Act and, upon request, a certificate of their state of health. For persons selected to work with children under school age, a tuberculosis clearance of the respiratory system is checked before the employment begins. We interview applicants on August 10, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and August 17, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. We start interviews during the application period. Submit your application electronically by August 14, 2026, at 12:00 PM at: Open jobs - Municipality of Mäntsälä (mantsala.fi). Attach a cover letter and your CV to the application.
