S2 Teacher

The City of Vantaa is seeking a full-time hourly teacher for Finnish as a Second Language (S2) at Martinlaakso School. The school is a comprehensive school for grades 1–9 with approximately 1,000 students and 130 staff members. The role involves working in a two-teacher team responsible for S2 instruction in the lower grades, collaborating closely with an experienced colleague. Responsibilities include implementing functional language learning, early literacy, and individual support. The teacher will manage S2 learning paths and assessment, including goal setting, monitoring, and documentation. The role requires using language-aware methods across different subjects and collaborating with classroom teachers and preparatory education staff. The teacher must ensure safe and clear group management with a student-centered, firm, and calm approach, supporting emotional and interaction skills. Flexibility in organizing teaching, such as simultaneous teaching, small groups, and individual goals, is required. The school follows the ProKoulu model, emphasizing consistent behavioral guidance through positive feedback. Teaching will primarily take place in lower grade groups. A monthly salary supplement of approximately 250 EUR may be paid based on the number of S2 students. The position is a fixed-term official appointment from August 13, 2026, to July 31, 2027.
