About the role

We are seeking a slope operations manager for Pyhäntunturi to oversee the operational leadership of our slope operations in a unique mountain environment. The role combines technical know-how, hands-on supervisory work and cost management. It offers a varied daily life with seasonal rhythms, a beautiful work environment and a tourism sector that shines in daily work. As the slope manager you will be responsible for the smooth operation, success and quality of slope operations, ensuring slopes are safe, functional and meet customer expectations. The work emphasizes technical understanding and experience, as the ski resort operates around technical aspects such as snowmaking, safe use of lifts and professional slope maintenance. You will also develop customer-oriented operations and ensure an excellent customer experience on the lifts and in the slopes with your teams. You will act as a first-line supervisor for shift supervisors who lead their own teams. In total, during the winter season the slope organization includes about 45–50 employees across teams such as lift customer service, maintenance, snow grooming, slope driving and Ski Patrol. In addition to a capable and skilled staff, there is an experienced ski resort organization including the previous slope manager. As a slope manager you will lead operations in close cooperation with the rest of the resort organization, plan and develop daily work with staff and ensure that safety, customer experience and operational efficiency go hand in hand. Pyhä offers an opportunity to influence, develop and lead a whole, in an environment where work and life meet in a unique way. Responsibilities include: daily operational leadership of slope operations and ensuring smooth operations; safety, quality and viability of slopes, lifts and other operations; personnel leadership and scheduling; developing customer-focused service on slopes and lifts and improving customer experience; planning, development and cross-team collaboration; and other duties as needed. Requirements: experience in supervisory or foreman roles, preferably in operational or technical settings; strong technical skills and understanding of key aspects of ski resort operations; ability to lead people in a practical, decisive and encouraging manner; good organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to develop operations and customer experience; responsible approach with safety, quality and smooth daily life at the core. Previous experience in ski resort operations is an advantage but success is possible also with other operational, tourism, service business or technical supervisory background. Assets: supervisory experience in a fast-paced and variable environment; safety or technical competencies; knowledge of the Pyhä area; flexibility for seasonal and variable work.
