We are looking for a part-time mother tongue language teacher to support Espoo’s multilingual students in strengthening their language and cultural identities. The teacher will work with students from different Espoo schools and guide them to develop their own mother tongue, value multilingualism, and utilize language skills to support learning, interaction, and thinking. Teaching of the mother tongue promotes active multilingualism, expands cultural understanding, and supports Finnish or Swedish language learning. Your work includes close cooperation with staff at different schools and with guardians to comprehensively support students’ linguistic and cultural development. Teaching sessions are mostly scheduled after 16:00. If you want to help strengthen students’ linguistic and cultural resources, join our expert and multilingual community. The workplace is: Growth and Learning Directorate, Finnish-language basic education, Multicultural Education Services, Karaportti 1, 02610 Espoo. Working hours: 2 teaching periods per week. The position is temporary and is a civil service appointment. Starting date: 31 August 2026. Salary: as per OVTES and pricing. Qualification: Basic education language teacher qualification. Teacher qualifications are determined by the Decree on Qualifications of the Teaching Personnel no 986/98. In case studies are not completed in Finland, the degree must be recognized by the Finnish National Agency for Education. For temporary roles we also consider non-qualified applicants.
