The City of Akaa is seeking a deputy for a Civil Engineer on leave of absence within the technical administration. The deputy position is for the period 1.8.2026-30.6.2030. The Civil Engineer's scope of work consists of diverse expert tasks in infrastructure projects and their public administrative preparation. The duties of the Civil Engineer include, among other things, the procurement and supervision of infrastructure projects, participation in the design phase of future construction sites, and acting as the safety coordinator for specifically designated sites. The duties also include the supervision of traffic arrangements during working hours at construction sites and communication related to the work sites. Work sites include new and renovated streets, pedestrian and bicycle paths in residential and industrial areas, as well as larger traffic arrangements such as roundabouts and potential bridge construction sites. The Civil Engineer is also responsible for granting placement, work, and excavation permits for the City of Akaa. The work is responsible and diverse. The Civil Engineer gets to see the entire process from design to the completion of the construction site. The Civil Engineer also acts as a deputy for the construction manager when necessary. Eligibility requirements are a Bachelor of Engineering (AMK) in urban construction or building technology, or an earlier equivalent degree. Experience in public administrative preparation is considered an advantage. We require at least a category B driver's license and the possibility of using one's own car. Remuneration is determined according to the municipal technical agreement, and the position-specific salary is approximately 4,510 euros per month, including the general increase of August 2026. In addition, there is an experience-based professional supplement (maximum 8%). Before accepting the official relationship, the selected person must present an acceptable medical certificate regarding their state of health. A six-month probationary period applies to the deputy position. Work begins as agreed, but as soon as possible.
