R&D Manager

Patria is an international defense and technology company with over 100 years of experience. The Sustainment Solutions business area is responsible for the sale, offering, and delivery of life cycle support and software products, as well as strategic partnerships with the Finnish Defence Forces and Patria's government business. We are now looking for an R&D Manager, LCS for the Life Cycle Support business to be responsible for the coordination, monitoring, and implementation of product development projects related to OEM and life cycle products. In this role, you will be in a key position ensuring that the long-term product development roadmap progresses according to plan and supports the strategic goals of the business. You will work in close cooperation with the service business, experts, customers, suppliers, and different business units. The role combines project management, technical understanding, and broad stakeholder cooperation. Development projects relate particularly to vehicle products, weapon systems, life cycle services, and defense-related technical solutions. You will not have direct subordinates, but will act as a coordinator and guide for several simultaneous development projects. A key part of your role is ensuring the progress of product development projects together with project teams, the business, and other key stakeholders. In some projects, you will act as the project manager, while in others, you are responsible for the coordination, monitoring, and reporting of the whole. Additionally, you will participate in the planning of the product development roadmap, take care of risk management, and support the organization in decision-making and continuous development, ensuring that projects progress according to goals, schedules, and budgets. You understand technical entities, know how to build cooperation between different stakeholders, and move things forward determinedly. Your working style is systematic, solution-oriented, and collaborative. You can communicate fluently between different functions and create a clear situational picture even for extensive project entities. We expect from you: - Suitable technical university degree (Engineer, M.Sc. Tech or equivalent) - Experience in project management or coordination in the manufacturing industry - Understanding of product development projects and their implementation - Technical expertise and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings - Experience in cooperation with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders - Fluent Finnish and English language skills - Excellent interaction and cooperation skills - Systematic, proactive, and goal-oriented approach to work Considered an advantage: - Background in the defense industry environment - Understanding of weapon systems or their life cycle management - Experience in building and implementing product development roadmaps - Proficiency in MS Project or other project management tools - Knowledge of the V10 system or other product data management and documentation solutions What we offer: At Patria, you get to do things that you can't even see elsewhere.
